Privacy policy
What we collect on the website and in the app, why we collect it, what buyers and sellers can see of each other, and what is never disclosed.
1. Who we are
Sasta Spares, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Contact: 8655006733, support@sastaspares.com.
2. This policy covers the website and the app
Sasta Spares is available as this website and as an Android app. They are one service sharing one account and one set of records: an enquiry posted on the handset is the same enquiry on the website. Everything in this policy applies to both unless a section says it is about one of them.
Sections 8 and 9 are specific to the app, because a phone can be asked for things a browser cannot — the camera, notifications — and because the app keeps a copy of your records on the handset so it works without a signal.
3. What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact details: name, mobile number, WhatsApp number, email address, city and delivery address
- Vehicle details: manufacturer, model, year, engine, variant, transmission, and registration number where you choose to provide it
- Seller business details where you register as a seller: trading name, address, PAN, GSTIN, dismantler or RVSF registration, premises photographs and the payment details you nominate to receive money
- Part details: the part required, symptoms, quantity, and OEM part number where you have it
- Photographs you upload or send us of parts, vehicles, registration certificates or VIN plates
- Deal records: requirements, bids, listings, photographs, prices, warranty terms, ratings and outcomes
- Correspondence with us by phone, WhatsApp, email or form
Information collected automatically on the website
If analytics are enabled on this site, standard measurement data such as pages visited, approximate location, device type and referring source may be collected. This is used to understand how the site is used, not to identify you individually.
Information collected automatically in the app
- A notification token. If you allow notifications, the phone's operating system issues a token that identifies that installation of the app so a message can be delivered to it. We store it against your account and use it for nothing else. It is not an advertising identifier and cannot be used to track you across other apps.
The app collects no location data, no contacts, no advertising identifier, and carries no analytics or advertising software. It asks the operating system for exactly two permissions, which are described in section 8.
4. Why we use it
- To match your requirement with verified sellers, and to let them bid on it
- To verify that a seller is who they say they are before allowing them to trade
- To release, at the point both parties confirm a deal, only the details the transaction requires
- To hold a permanent record of what was agreed, so a dispute can be resolved on facts
- To send you notifications about your own enquiries, bids and orders, if you have allowed them
- To handle warranty claims, returns, replacements and disputes
- To keep records of transactions as required for tax and accounting
- To improve our service, our website and our app
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your details for unrelated marketing without your consent.
5. Registration numbers, VIN and RC photographs
These are optional. Where you choose to provide them, we use them only to confirm your vehicle's specification so we can identify the correct part. If you would rather not share them, say so — we can usually work from photographs of the part and your vehicle details instead. You are welcome to obscure any details you would prefer not to share before sending a photograph.
6. What the other party can see
This is the part most people want to know about.
- While bidding: your Sasta ID, your city, and your rating and deal history. Not your name, phone number, email or address — unless both of you are approved sellers, which is the next point.
- Between two approved sellers: if an approved seller bids on an enquiry posted by another approved seller, each can see the other’s business name, city and phone number from the moment that bid is visible. This happens automatically and applies only when both sides are approved sellers — businesses that have been through our checks. If you are buying as an individual, your number is never shown to a seller this way, and you are never shown theirs. No address is released either way.
- A seller’s shop photograph: where a seller uploads one and we approve it, any buyer who receives a bid from them can see it. It is a photograph of the business, so anything written in it — a signboard, a business card — is visible too. Sellers choose whether to upload one.
- After both parties confirm a deal: the seller's business name, city and payment details go to the buyer. The buyer's delivery address and a delivery contact go to that one seller.
- For dispatch only: the buyer’s delivery address is released to that one seller.
- Never: identity documents, PAN, GSTIN or bank details. These are visible to Sasta Spares administrators only.
7. Who else we share it with
We share the minimum necessary with:
- Verified sellers — your vehicle and part specification, so they can bid. Your contact details are never given to them for marketing. Where you are an approved seller yourself, section 6 sets out the one case in which two trade accounts see each other’s numbers.
- Courier and transport operators — engaged by the seller, given the delivery address and contact so the part can be delivered.
- Service providers that host this website and the app's data, and process enquiry submissions on our behalf.
- Google, through Firebase Cloud Messaging, which delivers app notifications to your phone. It receives the notification token and the message. This is delivery only; it is not used for advertising.
- Authorities, where we are legally required to do so.
8. What the app asks your phone for
The app requests two permissions, both only at the moment they are needed, and both refusable — declining either leaves the rest of the app working.
- Camera and photographs. To photograph a part, or attach one from your gallery, for an enquiry, a bid, a listing or proof of dispatch. The app reads only the images you pick. It does not browse, index or upload anything else in your gallery.
- Notifications. To tell you when your enquiry is approved, a bid arrives on it, or an order moves. Refusing this means you check the app yourself instead; nothing else changes.
9. What the app keeps on your phone
The app is built to work in a basement with no signal, which it does by keeping a copy of your own records on the handset: your enquiries, bids, listings and orders, and the photographs attached to them. This copy is on your phone, in the app's private storage, readable by the app and not by other apps. Your sign-in is held in the phone's own secure keystore.
Uninstalling the app removes all of it. That deletes only the copy on the phone; it does not close your account, which is section 12.
10. WhatsApp
When you contact us on WhatsApp, that conversation is carried on WhatsApp's platform and is subject to their terms and privacy policy in addition to this one. We keep the conversation as a record of your enquiry.
11. How long we keep it
Deal records — requirements, bids, listings, photographs, prices, warranty terms and outcomes — are kept permanently. That permanence is deliberate: it is what allows a dispute raised months later to be resolved on evidence rather than recollection, and it is retained even after an account is closed. Identity documents are kept for as long as required for verification and legal compliance.
12. Closing your account and deleting your data
You can close your account yourself, and you do not need to ask us. Two routes, and both do exactly the same thing:
- In the app: Account → Close my account.
- On the website: your account page → Close my account.
You will be asked to type CLOSE to confirm, because it cannot be undone.
What is erased: your name, your mobile number and your other contact details. You will not be able to sign in again with that number.
What is kept, and why: the deal records described in section 11 — what was asked for, what was offered, what was agreed and what happened. Your side of them will read “Closed account”. This is kept because a deal has two sides: erasing it would destroy the other party's record of a transaction they were part of, and remove the evidence a dispute would be judged on. Records required for tax and accounting are also kept for the period the law requires.
If you would rather we did it for you, or you want to ask what we hold, write to support@sastaspares.com.
13. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information you give us against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Traffic between the app or the website and our servers is encrypted in transit. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. Your choices
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Delete information we no longer need to keep
- Stop contacting you
Contact support@sastaspares.com or 8655006733. We may need to keep certain records where law requires it, and deal records are retained as evidence for dispute resolution as described above.
15. Cookies
This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies of its own. If analytics are enabled, the analytics provider may set cookies to measure site usage. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. The app does not use cookies.
16. Children
Sasta Spares is intended for adults buying and selling automotive parts. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
17. Changes
We may update this policy. The current version is always the one published on this page.
